Billings, Montana – A dramatic scene unfolded on January 17, 2024, in Billings, Montana, when local police responded to a serious weapons complaint. The incident, which began around 8:57 am, involved a subject armed with an edged weapon at a residence in the 800 block of Lewis Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers of the Billings Police Department were informed that the individual had barricaded himself inside the house. Prioritizing safety, the officers first ensured the victims inside the residence were safely evacuated. However, the situation remained tense as the subject continued to stay barricaded in a room, refusing to comply with the officers’ instructions.
As the standoff escalated, the Billings Police Department (BPD) SWAT team, along with drone operators and negotiators, were called to the scene. Their coordinated efforts were aimed at containing the suspect, establishing communication, and seeking a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
After several hours of negotiation, the suspect finally surrendered around 11:45 am, ending the standoff without any further incidents. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Isaiah Little Light, was arrested and taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of misdemeanor assault, one count of criminal mischief, and one count of resisting arrest. Little Light was subsequently transported to the Yellowstone Detention Facility.
