Red Lodge Ales organizes a community event in honour of a worker

Red Lodge, Montana – A well-known Carbon County resident named Andrew Evans died in a rock-climbing accident in July.

“He was always the safest person to ever go climbing with. It was such a freak thing when it happened,” said Eden Wondra, Evans’ partner.

On Thursday, Wondra participated in a neighborhood fundraiser in Evans’ honor at Red Lodge Ales, where he formerly worked.

Participants in the event, “Loss in the Outdoors,” were able to contribute money for a raffle that will benefit Carbon County families who have lost loved ones due to someone participating in outdoor recreation.

“Going outdoors is what really made us close,” said Justin Moore, a co-worker of Evans.

“It’s a tough thing to think about, but hopefully other people will be able to have a chance to get resources and use the funds raised to help our community out.”

Southern Montana Climbers Coalition has more details about the group that established the fund.
